Lord’s Trivia

In the 239 years since the MCC was founded, a rich history has been built. Some
miscellaneous information about Lord’s Ground will be included here and updated
periodically.

Since 1814, there have been three Pavilions at Lord’s. The first burned down in 1825,
destroying records dating back to the start of MCC in 1787 – and the Members’ wine
store!

In 1930, Don Bradman scored 254 in the Ashes Test at Lord’s, the highest score by a
visiting player until Graeme Smith’s 259 in 2003.

The first three cricket World Cup finals were played at Lord’s – in 1975, 1979, and 2003.
